Im Herbstsemester 2025 wird erstmals ein Team der Universität Zürich beim European Law Moot Court teilnehmen. Der European Law Moot Court gilt als der grösste und renommierteste Moot Court im Recht der Europäischen Union. Beim European Law Moot Court handelt es sich um ein fiktives Gerichtsverfahren, bei dem Teams von über 100 Universitäten gegeneinander antreten. Das Verfahren basiert auf einem praxisnahen Fall, den die Teilnehmenden aus der Perspektive des Rechts der Europäischen Union analysieren müssen. Der Wettbewerb umfasst in einer ersten Phase das Verfassen von Schriftsätzen (einer mit den Argumenten der klagenden Partei, der andere mit den Argumenten der beklagten Partei). In einer zweiten Phase, bei erfolgreicher Qualifikation, reist das Team zu einer von vier regionalen Ausscheidungsrunden, die verschiedenen europäischen Städten stattfinden. Die Gewinnerteams der regionalen Runden qualifizieren sich für die Endrunde vor dem Europäischen Gerichtshof in Luxemburg.

In Fall Semester 2025, for the first time, a team from the University of Zurich will participate in the European Law Moot Court. The European Law Moot Court is considered the largest and most prestigious moot court in European Union law, involving teams from over 100 universities competing against each other in a fictitious case. The proceedings are based on a practical case that the participants have to analyze from the perspective of European Union law. In the first phase of the competition, the teams draft teams hand in written submissions of both the «applicant» and the «defendant». In a second phase, upon qualification, the teams travel to one of four regional rounds in different European cities (Regional Round). The winning teams of the Regional Rounds qualify for the Final Round hosted by the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg.

Au semestre d'automne 2025, une équipe de l'Université de Zurich participera pour la première fois au European Law Moot Court, considéré comme le plus grand et le plus prestigieux Moot Court en droit de l'Union européenne. Il s'agit d'un procès fictif auquel participent des équipes de plus de 100 universités. La procédure se base sur un cas pratique que les participants doivent analyser du point de vue du droit de l'Union européenne. Dans la première phase, le concours consiste à rédiger des mémoires en requête et en défense. Dans une deuxième phase, sur qualification, les équipes se rendent à l'une des quatre finales régionales organisées dans différentes villes européennes (Finales Régionales). Les équipes gagnantes des Finales Régionales se qualifient pour la Finale qui se déroule à la Cour de justice de l'Union européenne à Luxembourg.
General Information
| Language | The Competition is bilingual at all stages, English and French being the official languages. Teams are free to write and plead in either French or English. For participation, good English knowledge / English language proficiency is required. Knowledge of French is an advantage. |

| Participation | Participation is open to master students of law with a strong interest in European Union law, European competition law and European single market law. The European Law Moot Court provides for an excellent opportunity to develop written and oral advocacy skills and to meet students and EU law experts from all over Europe. Students taking part in the European Law Moot Court will obtain at least 12 ECTS for the written phase. Upon qualification for the Regional Finals, the students receive additional 6 ECTS. The credits earned for the written phase can also be counted as a master thesis. |
